The misdelivered pizza
Su Wan was a twenty-three-year-old pizza delivery driver, zipping through the streets and alleys of the city's east side on a beat-up electric scooter. She had a head of striking red hair, a sharp mind, and a tongue that never held back—yet always went soft at the worst possible moment. Lysander Caldwell was her last delivery of the day, living in a standalone bungalow tucked away in an old residential neighborhood. She had planned to drop off the pizza and leave, but that single slice with a bite taken out of it became a fuse, dragging her into a whirlpool she was nowhere near ready for. There was an unsettling certainty in Lysander Caldwell’s eyes, as if he had known from the very beginning that she wouldn’t be able to walk away.
